Celebrating a Successful Q4

The year 2020 was one of remarkable growth and perseverance for the Premier Lacrosse League, despite the many challenges that we all faced. For PLL Assists, this was no different. Building on the announcement of our new structure, Assists embarked on a very successful fourth quarter to wrap up the calendar year. In addition to all of our collaborations in support of our many partners, we also launched multiple successful fundraising campaigns.

Merchandise Collaboration Campaigns

In October, PLL Assists launched two separate merchandise fundraisers. First, we released our “Stand Up, Speak Out, Be a Buddy” t-shirts in collaboration with STOMP Out Bullying, a national nonprofit dedicated to changing the culture for all students. As representatives of the lacrosse community, we felt a responsibility to assist in combating bullying in our sport, in our schools, and in all walks of life and were proud to work with STOMP Out Bullying to do our part to help achieve this goal. STOMP Out Bullying works to reduce and prevent bullying, cyberbullying and other digital abuse, educates against homophobia, LGBTQ+ discrimination, racism and hatred, and deters violence in schools, online and in communities across the country. Through your purchases of our “Be A Buddy” shirts, we raised more than $1,500 to support this wonderful organization.

Our next fundraising item was our Breast Cancer Awareness Hat during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. We all know of someone who has been affected by breast cancer; PLL Assists continues its commitment to fight cancer and support research in the mission to find a cure. Breast Cancer is the second most common cancer among women in the United States, affecting one of every eight. With $10 of each hat sold benefitting the cause, we raised $2,000+ for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, an organization whose mission it is to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising breast cancer research.

Giving Campaigns

In November, we released a Veteran’s Day shirt to honor those who have served our country and to support Shootout For Soldiers, an organization that uses lacrosse as a platform to support American veterans and foster community engagement. This successful campaign raised almost $4,000 in support of our troops.

In early December, we held our Giving Tuesday Online Auction, where fans were able to bid on memorabilia signed by six of our league’s biggest stars. This year’s fundraiser supported Special Olympics Southern California, an organization that enriches the lives of over 38,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities through sports, education and health. PLL Assists is proud to support their mission. The six items raised over $1,500 for this incredible cause.

Donor Spotlight

Finally, we thank Daniel and Kathleen Dunn for their support of PLL Assists and its partners. Their generous donation helped support a number of organizations throughout the country that use lacrosse as a means to educate and support students in underserved communities while simultaneously growing and diversifying our sport.
