The Waterdogs’ Midfield Versatility

To say Waterdogs LC head coach Andy Copelan is excited for his team’s inaugural season would be an understatement. Copelan arrived at his interview this winter with a spreadsheet of his projections for the rest of the league’s unprotected rosters across the league.
Biggest Losers from the Expansion Draft

The Biggest Losers from the Expansion Draft

Dread it. Run from it. The expansion draft arrives all the same. Some teams were hit harder than others when Waterdogs LC Head Coach Andy Copelan snapped his fingers at NBC studios. Here’s a ranking of the biggest losers (from the slightly depleted rosters to those with gaping holes). Think of it less as a ranking of the talent that was lost, more as a ranking of the club’s ability to replace that talent.

Five Players Who Would Benefit From The Expansion Club

A seventh lacrosse club will add much-needed roster spots. Plenty of players will benefit, from guys who were healthy scratches to others who might need a change of scenery. These players have games that lacrosse junkies appreciate in ways that casual viewers or box score browsers might not. They move off-ball. They fight relentlessly for groundballs. They make the pass before the pass. You might not notice them when you watch the game live, but on a second viewing, they jump off the screen.

The Whipsnakes’ Journey To The Crown

When the rosters were announced, the Whipsnakes were identified by their strong Maryland alumni base. 20 Terps from Drew Snider (Class of 2012) to Connor Kelly (Class of 2018) gave this club instant chemistry and culture.

1. Rambo’s vision in pick-and-rolls Last week, Connor Fields was stranded on Landis Island. Matt Landis locked him down for 48 minutes. While we billed Landis against Matt Rambo (3G, 3A) as the marquee matchup, the Whipsnakes had different plans.
