Archers win the first overall pick!

Atlas LC vs. Archers LC First Overall Draft Pick Game Recap

The Archers are on the clock!

The first overall pick game between Archers and Atlas was a one-sided battle from start to finish. Archers finished with the highest-scoring game of the season. The final score was a lopsided 25-7.

Stephen Kelly won the opening faceoff and found Will Manny sitting on his lefty island who ripped it top shelf; the start of an onslaught of goals. Archers took the lead and never surrendered it. Dominique Alexander followed up the first goal of the game with his first goal of the season. Ryan Brown and Eric Law each found the net in the first quarter giving Atlas a slight glimmer of hope. Archers led Atlas 5-2 at the end of the first, the closest margin of the game.

Michael Simon started the second quarter with a bang, firing his second two-bomb of the season. John Crawley stopped the bleeding for Atlas midway through the second, ending an Archers 7-0 run. Manny poured in two more of his PLL-record seven goals to extend his clubs’ lead.

The third quarter was more of the same. Marcus Holman couldn’t let his linemate have all the fun, he scored No. 3 of his season-high six goals. Archers surpassed the league record for highest score in a game in the third quarter leading, 23-5.

The absence of PLL Faceoff Man of the Year, Trevor Baptiste, was very evident. It seemed as though Archers were playing make it take it. Stephen Kelly and Brendan Fowler dominated at the X.  Atlas won a dismal 27% of the 36 faceoffs. They could never get any momentum going.

Atlas' goalies had a day to forget. The Archers were netting most everything they threw toward the goal. Nine different Archers found the back of the net. Both Jack Concannon and Scott Rodgers let in 10+ goals. They didn’t have much help in front as the defense was allowing the Archers easy looks all game.

Atlas close the 2019 season on a low note and will try to re-tool for next season. Archers will be scouting in the offseason to see which NCAA star they will pick No.1 in the 2020 Collegiate Draft.
