Premier Lacrosse League Partners with WHOOP Ahead of PLL Championship Series

By PLL | Jul 24, 2020

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 24, 2020) - The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced today a partnership with WHOOP ahead of the PLL Championship Series, starting this weekend (July 25) in Salt Lake City, Utah. PLL will provide a WHOOP Strap 3.0 to all PLL athletes to optimize their health and individual performance through a deeper understanding of cardiovascular strain, recovery, and sleep.

“The health of our players during the PLL Championship Series is of paramount importance,” says PLL Co-Founder and CEO Mike Rabil. “Each PLL athlete will be faced with physical demands due to the sheer number of games this month and the high altitude of Utah. Partnering with WHOOP, a company at the forefront of sports science, will enable our players to perform at optimal levels and monitor their physical well being. We are thrilled to have them join the team for the long term.”

WHOOP is a 24/7 waterproof fitness tracker that can be worn around the wrist, forearm, or bicep, and tracks key metrics like heart rate variability, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, and sleep staging with industry-leading accuracy. WHOOP is the only consumer wearable with a third-party validated respiratory rate tracker that meets gold standard measurements.  WHOOP recently released new research - which is under peer review - into the relationship between respiratory rate and COVID-19 which analyzed the potential for wearable technology to provide early warning signs of potential COVID-19 infections.

“We’re excited at WHOOP to partner with the PLL on their return to play. This is an innovative new league that recognizes the importance of health monitoring for its athletes,” said Will Ahmed, WHOOP Founder & CEO.

The PLL Championship Series gets underway this Saturday, July 25, with two matchups. Whipsnakes and Redwoods will face off on NBC at 4PM ET in a rematch of the 2019 Championship Game, this matchup will be followed by Chaos and Chrome colliding at 7:30PM ET on NBCSN.
