OVERVIEW

The Accounting Manager reports directly to the Director of Finance and acts as the head of PLL Accounting, managing month-end and ongoing reporting responsibilities and supporting the company’s financial needs. This role serves as a support for operating managers within the organization, tracking and reporting monthly results against financial goals. This position will have a broad spectrum of responsibilities from handling daily transactions to high level reporting with senior management. As an early hire in a start-up sports league, we are looking for a passionate, energized, hard-working candidate willing to take ownership and grow within the organization.

SPECIFICS

  • Role to be headquartered in Los Angeles, CA

KEY OBJECTIVES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee month-end close including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis for completion and delivery on a timely basis
  • Processing and reconciling daily transactions in cash, accounts payable and accounts receivable with a high degree of accuracy
  • Assist in reporting key results to operators and investors
  • Collaborates with team to integrate financial software and systems to improve efficiency and controls throughout the organization
  • Participate in ongoing efforts to improve profitability through savings recommendations or opportunities for growth
  • Engages collaboratively with the Director of Finance in critical and confidential aspects of accounting and reporting
  • Collaborate on forecasting adjustments and analysis for senior management.
  • Compliance oversight, working with Director of Finance on licensing, taxes, 1099 reporting and other requirements
  • Perform various other tasks/projects as needed

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of direct experience with some level of financial reporting oversight
  • CPA and/or Public Accounting experience preferred
  • Related industry (media, events, spots) a plus
  • Proven communication, analytical, and time management skills
  • Maintain high attention to detail
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of QB, bill.com, Expensify, and Microsoft suite with special expertise in spreadsheets
  • Self-motivated and self-directed

ABOUT THE PLL

 

The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) brought the sport of lacrosse to a national stage for the first time through a tour-based model, complete with the best players the game has to offer. Co-founded by lacrosse superstar, philanthropist, and investor Paul Rabil and his brother, serial entrepreneur and investor, Mike Rabil, the Premier Lacrosse League is backed by an investment group comprised of The Raine Group, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), The Chernin Group, and Blum Capital. The league was announced in October 2018, with an exclusive media-rights deal with NBC Sports Group. The PLL’s second season will begin in May 2020, with seven teams, embarking on a 14-week season that concludes with a playoff and PLL championship game.
