The Premier Lacrosse League is a North American outdoor professional lacrosse league featuring the world’s 200 best players. The Premier Lacrosse League was co-founded by lacrosse superstar Paul Rabil and his brother, serial entrepreneur and investor, Mike Rabil, and is backed by an investment group composed of Joe Tsai Sports, Brett Jefferson Holdings, The Raine Group, The Chernin Group, Arctos Sports Partners, Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and other leading sports and media executives, entrepreneurs and investors. PLL games are distributed through an exclusive media-rights agreement with ESPN. The league has partnered with blue chip brands through its first four years of play, such as Ticketmaster, CashApp, Gatorade and Progressive.

ROLE SPECIFICS:
The Premier Lacrosse League is seeking a Data scientist to join our team to make a significant impact in our business working on a variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, mathematics, and computer science, as well as experience working with large data sets and stakeholders. This role will be expected to develop statistical models/analysis and apply them to solve real-time problems. As part of a team of specialists, the data scientist will “slice and dice” data using various methods and create new visions for the future.
This role is based in Los Angeles, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets to provide valuable insights into the business
  • Work closely with other team members to understand business requirements and identify opportunities for data-driven decision-making
  • Build custom workflows using ELT(etract-load-transform) and ETL (etract-transform-load) methods
  • Communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders using data visualization tools and storytelling techniques
  • Create dashboards and manage dataflows to ensure up-to-date tracking across PLL business units
  • Work closely with the paid and CRM marketing teams and be responsible for campaign pre and post-analysis, cohorting, experiment design, segmentation, and key results measurement
  • Work closely with the PLL’s marketing and product teams to develop workflows and automations across Martech and data stack
  • Utilize 3rd party data to enrich customer data in our Data Warehouse
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in data science and technology
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience working as a data scientist or a related field.
  • Advanced SQL expertise
  • At least 3 years of experience in programming languages such as Python or R
  • Experience with data warehouses like BigQuery or Redshift
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Looker, Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
BONUS POINTS:
  • Experience developing & implementing Machine Learning models to identify trends and patterns in data
  • Experience utilizing Large Language Models (LLMs) in data workflows
COMPENSATION:
  • Based on the candidate’s experience, seniority, and location
  • $90,000 to $120,000 base salary
    • The total compensation package includes Employee Incentive Bonus, Health, Life, Dental, and Vision Insurance, 401(k) plan, Equity Sharing, Mental Health Stipend, Unlimited PTO, and Paid Parental Leave
