Archers re-sign All-Pro midfielder Grant Ament through 2027

The two-time defending champion Utah Archers have made their first move toward a three-peat in 2025 by re-signing All-Pro midfielder Grant Ament

Ament was going to be one of the club’s most prominent free agents in March. Now, he’s set to be an Archer for the next three summers through his age-30 season in 2027.

Ament took the league by storm in 2024 following a pair of injury-riddled seasons. His permanent move to midfield made the Utah offense even more of a challenge for opposing defenses as they had to pick their poison regarding who to pole. Ament expanded his dodging repertoire and exposed matchups en route to a 28-point regular season.

When three-time MVP Tom Schreiber went down for the year during the final weekend of the regular season, Ament stepped up to help lead the Archers’ offense to the 2024 Cash App Championship. His exploits landed him a spot on the league’s All-Pro first team. That selection made him just the second player ever – along with Gary Gait – to be an All-Pro at both midfield and attack.

Since the Archers took Ament with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 College Draft, he has delivered time and again for head coach Chris Bates’ squad. Re-signing him was surely a no-brainer that further solidifies the club’s offensive core.

Utah now has seven players currently set to hit free agency on March 4: Matt Moore, Jackson Morrill, Ryan Aughavin, Challen Rogers, Cole Williams, Job Robbins and Graeme Hossack. Moore, Hossack and Robbins are the top names to watch who could follow in Ament’s footsteps and re-sign ahead of free agency.

Additionally, the Archers could aim to extend a few of their 2026 free agents well ahead of time, like they did with a number of key players last offseason. Short-stick defensive midfielders Piper Bond and Connor Maher and faceoff specialist Mike Sisselberger are on rookie deals that could be restructured and extended into the future as the Archers aim to further solidify their professional lacrosse dynasty.
