Before the Carolina Chaos stepped on the field to take on the Maryland Whipsnakes on Friday night, Blaze Riorden was 11th in all-time saves.
After an 11-save first half, he took possession of tenth overall.
Here’s the save that got him going:
Blaze is now 11th in all-time saves with 960. This wasn’t the 960th but it was certainly a big one early in this game.

After this save, Blaze started to get hot and helped the Chaos defense keep the Whipsnakes offense scoreless for over 10 minutes.
"You can't shoot the ball at Blaze's feet, and we did that an awful lot tonight," Whipsnakes head coach Jim Stagnitta said.
The party was just getting started for Riorden as he recorded seven more saves in the second half and overtime, backstopping the Chaos to a 10-9 victory in Fairfield.
"He's like an alien between the cage," Carolina head coach Andy Towers remarked. "It's unbelievable how many stops he makes."
His 18 saves during the game helped catapult him to No. 9 all-time, further cementing the four-time Oren Lyons Goaltender of the Year's GOAT status between the pipes.
"He's consumed with winning, and you're not going to find a guy that's less impressed with himself that should be impressed as hell with himself," Towers said. "He’s consistent all the time at a position that is probably the hardest position in sports to be consistent at."
The Chaos will need to continue to lean on Riorden’s great play as they make a push toward the playoffs.
