The Carolina Chaos have signed 2022 Rookie of the Year Brendan Nichtern to a one-year contract through the 2026 season.

Nichtern was traded to the California Redwoods last offseason, but he was stuck behind the attack line of Ryder Garnsey, Chris Kavanagh and Dylan Molloy after not playing during the 2024 season because of military commitments. The former West Point standout hasn’t appeared in a game since 2023.

During the 2022 season, Nichtern led Chrome LC with 38 points (16G, 22A) and dictated the flow of the offense on Tim Soudan’s team. Nichtern is an offensive engineer who led the PLL with 47.2 touches per game in 2022, more than Pat Kavanagh’s league-leading 45.4 in 2025.

Nichtern can complement lefty Owen Hiltz by being the primary ball-handler on the righty side of the Chaos offense if he returns to the form he was in during his Rookie of the Year campaign. Joining the Chaos also will reunite Nichtern with his former Army teammate Jackson Eicher.

Carolina averaged 11 scores per game last season. Only the Utah Archers scored fewer (9.8).
