Carolina Chaos release attackman Jules Heningburg

The Carolina Chaos on Tuesday released Jules Heningburg, Ryan Bell and Carter Parlette from their 29-man training camp roster.

Heningburg registered 15 points (10G, 5A) and was a staple in Carolina's lineup last year, earning his fourth career All-Star selection. The veteran attackman was with the Redwoods for five seasons before joining the Chaos in 2024.

“I can tell you it wasn’t easy," Carolina head coach Roy Colsey said about releasing Heningburg. "Training camp was a battle, and we felt good about the guys we brought in. Jules is an all-time great player and a guy that has contributed a lot to the Chaos in his time here. For us, it was mostly about finding guys that fit into a system that's different than what they had played before."

Colsey's offensive system is "unstructured" but focuses on players creating with their strong hands and is built through an even balance of lefties and righties on the field.

"There was too much overlap with a few of the guys that were out there," Colsey continued. "We have to be a little more differentiated on the right side of the ball, and I think Jules will find a new home and have continued success in the league."

Bell was invited to camp as an undrafted rookie and was fighting for a spot on the righty wing in the Chaos offense. Parlette was acquired in a trade with the Boston Cannons and wasn’t able to find a spot in the roster at short-stick defensive midfield.

The Chaos also added four players on roster cutdown day, claiming attackmen Cross Ferrara and Jackson Morrill and rookie SSDMs Greg Langermeier and Ray Dearth off waivers.

Ferrara was a useful piece out of the box and down low at attack for the Denver Outlaws last season and is a better scorer of the rock than he is a passer. Morrill is a big, physical dodger who spent time with the Maryland Whipsnakes and Utah Archers in 2024 and can play at attack or midfield.

Both new offensive pieces can play with both hands and will run out of the box in the early season with Carolina.

Langermeier was a team captain at Ohio State in 2025 and earned the team’s prestigious “Hammer Recipient,” given to a player who embodies toughness and leadership. The former Buckeye can score in transition on the clear and is a solid cover defender with a short stick.

Dearth was a captain under Colsey in high school at Ridgefield (Conn.) and was a pivotal SSDM for Harvard over the last four seasons. Dearth had a career-high 36 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers this season.
