For the second consecutive week, Connor Shellenberger has been voted as the Champion Player of the Week, making him the first player to win the honor back-to-back weeks this season. Shellenberger helped lead the New York Atlas to a 16-12 victory over the California Redwoods last Friday. While doing so, he set a career high with seven assists.

Shellenberger tallied the second-most assists in a single game all-time with seven, becoming the seventh player to register seven or more assists in one game.

This performance came off the back of a five-goal, two-assist outing from Shellenberger against the Boston Cannons the week prior. The second-year attackman has been a balanced scorer this season, both scoring for himself and facilitating to create opportunities for others.

The Virginia product is tied with Michael Sowers for first in the league in points (32). He’s sixth in goals (14) and third in assists (18) all while shooting a ridiculous 43.8%, which is fifth among players averaging at least two shots per game.

“He’s going to end his career as one of the greatest to ever do it,” Xander Dickson said after the win.

”We have seen him take over games with five goals and two assists. They played him as a scorer today, and he exploded for seven assists,” he added. “His ability to not play in a box is what makes him so, so great, and I think that it’s what can be underappreciated at times.”

Shellenberger and the Atlas (5-2) will look to continue their win streak this coming weekend when they faceoff against the Maryland Whipsnakes at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
