California Redwoods midfielder Garrett Degnon

Chaos acquire Garrett Degnon from Redwoods for fourth-round pick

By Hayden Lewis | Apr 9, 2025

The Carolina Chaos on Wednesday acquired second-year midfielder Garrett Degnon from the California Redwoods in exchange for the No. 29 pick in the 2025 College Draft.

Degnon played four games early in the 2024 season, recording an exciting four-point (3G, 1T) performance against the Chaos. He finished his rookie year with six points (4G, 1T, 1A).

The 6-foot-4 lefty has similar downhill dodging and scoring abilities to Matt Campbell, but he didn’t have the opportunity to display them with the Redwoods. Degnon will have to earn the opportunity to play on the lefty side of the field with Josh Byrne during training camp.

New Chaos general manager Spencer Ford and head coach Roy Colsey are sending a clear message that they want to improve Carolina’s offense while it has a championship-level defense.

The Chaos now own the fifth pick in each of the first three rounds (Nos. 5, 13 and 21 overall).

This is the first pick Ford has traded in the 2025 College Draft, but he’s already acquired Josh Zawada for a 2026 pick and Carter Parlette and Chris Aslanian for a 2026 pick.

The draft will be held on May 6.
