The Carolina Chaos announced Tuesday that Shane Knobloch has been activated from the physically unable to perform list. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 College Draft is expected to make his season debut on Sunday against the Maryland Whipsnakes.

It’s officially “Shane Time.”

Knobloch scored the overtime winner against the Whipsnakes last season, and it was arguably the biggest moment of the season for the Rutgers product.

As a right-handed offensive midfielder, Knobloch can fill roles as a “stretch shooter” and “flex” piece in Carolina’s offense. Standing at 5-foot-9, 200 pounds, Knobloch is a human battering ram with the footwork of a ballerina when he dodges downhill, and his snappy wrists make his shot lethal.

Jackson Eicher, Ross Scott, Cross Ferrara, Josh Zawada and Gannon Matthews have played on the righty side this season. Eicher and Scott have solidified their roles, leaving Knobloch in a battle with Ferrara, Zawada and Matthews for one of the two spots remaining.

Knobloch recorded 15 points (11G, 1T, 3A) during his rookie campaign and wasn’t afraid to be a volume shooter (4.4 shots per game) on a Chaos team that averaged a league-low 37.7 shots per game. Carolina is averaging 36 shots per game without Knobloch this season and could use another shot-creating midfielder to pair with Eicher on the righty wing.

To make room on the roster, Carolina released Jackson Morrill. Morrill was claimed off waivers in May but never dressed for the Chaos.
