2024 Champ Series Boston Cannons vs Utah Archers

Cole Williams and Ryan Aughavin ruled out due to injury

Late in the second quarter on Friday against the Cannons, Cole Williams went down with an injury and was later ruled out for the remainder of the Championship Series.

Williams eventually was seen on the sideline with crutches and heavy medical attention to his right knee.

The Archers added Williams to the roster to be a difference-maker in the Championship Series. Unfortunately for Williams, his opportunity got cut short after the lower body injury.

Aughavin was ruled out and replaced by Kevin Winkoff

The injury bug not only affected Williams, but it also nabbed Ryan Aughavin. Aughavin was ruled out with a left foot injury for Utah after the game on Friday.

Aughavin had two goals for three points in the two games he participated in. Aughavin was seen laboring at times in game 2 against the Cannons and never made his presence known in the contest.

Aughavin was a two-point threat for the Archers during last year's Championship Series and came in with the expectation of being a threat again this year.

Williams and Aughavin’s replacement after their injuries will be Kevin Winkoff, a free agent from the player pool.

Last year for Penn State, Winkoff scored 24 goals and added 18 assists. Down the stretch for the Nittany Lions, Winkoff was electric scoring clutch goal after clutch goal.

Winkoff will be a threat from beyond the 2-point arc and possesses a missile for a shot. He is also a deadly feeder, displaying his passing prowess in the NCAA Semifinals against Duke when he recorded five assists.

The Archers will be back in action against the California Redwoods on Saturday at 5 p.m. EST on ESPN+.
