New York Atlas short-stick defensive midfielder Danny Logan is listed as questionable for Saturday’s matchup with the Philadelphia Waterdogs in Baltimore.
Logan sustained an injury during the second half of New York’s loss to the Boston Cannons on Opening Weekend. Logan missed the remainder of the Boston game and has not played with the team since.
“We are not the same team without the best defensive middie on the planet,” Atlas head coach Mike Pressler said after last Saturday’s loss to the Maryland Whipsnakes. “We have our fingers crossed that Danny is going to get healthy and will be ready to go against the Waterdogs.”
A three-time George Boiardi Hard Hat Award recipient, Logan is regarded as the top defensive midfielder in the Premier Lacrosse League. He held opponents to 16.1% shooting as the closest defender in 2024 (fourth-best among defenders with 25 or more shots against).
Without Logan in the rotation, New York has relied on help from offensive midfielders Jake Stevens, Bryan Costabile and rookie Max Krevsky.
Krevsky, who was injured to start the season, made his professional debut last weekend against Maryland. Before that game, Logan sat on the phone with the second-round draft pick to walk him through the team’s defense and help him to prepare for his first game in the PLL.
Logan was pleased to see how Krevsky performed in his first professional outing.
“I thought Krevsky looked really comfortable in his first game, and I think his ceiling is really high,” Logan said. “He’s super athletic, he can handle the ball, he can cover guys one-on-one and can get up and down the field in transition, so I’m really excited to see where he goes from here.”
Logan is hopeful he’ll be able to return to the lineup this weekend.
“I’m feeling good. I’ve been working with the trainers this week towards being ready for Baltimore,” the four-time All-Pro said.“Everything feels good, looks good, and just trying to get the last clearance boxes checked off.”
New York will play Philadelphia, which sits atop the Eastern Conference standings, on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN.
