Atlas’ Jeff Teat breaks PLL single-season points record, tallies No. 45 vs. Cannons

Jeff Teat is the new owner of the Premier Lacrosse League’s single-season points record.

Teat entered the Atlas’ game against the Boston Cannons in Fairfield with a record-tying 44 points (20G, 24A) in the bank. His assist in the second quarter Saturday brought him to 45 points and put him in rarified air.

Cutting left toward the center of the arc, Teat dumped the ball off to short-stick defensive midfielder Chet Comizio, who cradled a few times before sneaking it past Boston goalie Colin Kirst on a low-angle rip, for point No. 45.

The record, however, came in a 17-12 New York loss. Leaving Fairfield without the win, Teat's new milestone "doesn’t mean anything,” he said postgame.

Teat had two assists, bringing his season point total to 46, and five turnovers.

Rob Pannell still holds the professional lacrosse single-season points record with 78, which he accumulated during the 2018 Major League Lacrosse season. He had 43 goals and 35 assists in 13 games, breaking his own previous single-season record of 74 points in 14 games set in 2016.

Teat set the PLL record in less than seven games this season. MLL games were 60 minutes long, whereas PLL games are 48. The Atlas have three regular-season games left. Teat is averaging 6.6 points per game.

Teat started the season on an 11-point pad with an explosive performance against the Cannons in which he scored four goals and had seven assists. Before Fairfield, Teat contributed no fewer than four points per game this season.

Teat surpassed his 2021 point total (32) in five games this season and his 2022 and 2023 point totals (38 and 36, respectively) in six games.

In four seasons so far, Teat recorded 169 career points (78G, 1T, 89A).

Paul Rabil holds the pro lacrosse career points record with 657 (3.9 per game) in 14 seasons. John Grant Jr. is second with 643, and Pannell sits in third with 591.
