Marcus Holman reached a major milestone Saturday night, becoming just the sixth player in professional lacrosse history to record 500 points.

With a sharp cut to the crease and a pinpoint feed from short-stick defensive midfielder Ben Ramesy at midfield, Holman buried his 500th career point in the first quarter against the Carolina Chaos. The goal made him just the sixth player in pro lacrosse history to reach the milestone, joining the ranks of Paul Rabil, John Grant Jr., Rob Pannell, Joe Walters, and Casey Powell in the 500-point club.

It was a vintage Holman finish for the history-making mark: instinctive, efficient, and executed with surgical precision by the most accurate shooter in the game. At 34, Holman continues to play with the same fire, finesse, and swagger that made him a star – and now, officially, a legend.

As expected, Holman, ever the team-first leader, deflected the spotlight, crediting his teammates past and present for helping him reach the historic mark. But the moment certainly wasn’t lost on those around him, especially his father and head coach, Brian Holman.

At halftime, the head coach and proud dad reiterated the sentiment, just a bit more eloquently.

“It’s a testament to him and the hard work he puts in, and also a testament of how much [work] you have put into this game,” he said. “I’m proud as a coach, and really proud as a dad.”

Saturday’s milestone comes during a week of personal celebration for Holman and his wife, fellow pro lacrosse star Alex Aust Holman, who announced they’re expecting their first child. It’s been a week of legacy-building – on and off the field.

Holman’s longevity is equally as impressive as his production. In his 13th professional season, he’s showing no signs of slowing down. Rather, he’s playing some of the best lacrosse of his career.
