The Denver Outlaws will reunite with an old friend for the 2026 season.

The team announced Monday the signing of veteran midfielder Mikie Schlosser to a one-year contract. Schlosser was drafted by Denver in the sixth round of the 2017 MLL Draft and played the first four years of his career with the organization, helping the Outlaws win an MLL championship in 2018.

Schlosser spent the last four seasons with the Philadelphia Waterdogs. He made the All-Star team in 2021 and helped the Waterdogs win their first PLL championship in 2022.

During that championship run, Schlosser suffered a serious oblique injury in the semifinal. After nearly two years rehabbing his injury, he finally returned to the field at the end of the 2024 season. Schlosser saw action in three games for a young Waterdogs team last season, scoring two goals against the eventual champion New York Atlas in the regular-season finale.

For the Outlaws, Schlosser’s signing is sentimental, but also practical. Denver has an established core of offensive stars, and as the Outlaws look to avenge their U.S. Bank Championship loss last season, they need to find one or two more complements to the roster.

Schlosser gives Denver another capable dodger from midfield who can create his own shot or play within the offense. At this stage of his career, he doesn’t need to be the focal point of the offense and can instead play a supporting role to the Outlaws’ All-Star cast.

Perhaps more importantly, Schlosser is a respected veteran and leader for a young group. The 30-year-old has played more seasons than any other Denver offensive player, and he’s currently the oldest offensive player signed to the roster.

Schlosser has always commanded respect in the locker room, and he was a former Outlaws captain during his successful first stint in Denver. He’s appeared in 62 career games and was an All-Star in 2019.

Schlosser is the second player to return to the new Outlaws, joining another former captain, Eric Law.
