New York Atlas re-sign Danny Logan through 2027

The New York Atlas have re-signed short-stick defensive midfielder Danny Logan through the 2027 season.
Logan was the 2024 recipient of the George Boiardi Hard Hat Award, given to the league’s top defensive midfielder. It was his third time winning the award. Logan also earned his fourth straight All-Star selection and third first-team All-Pro nod for his outstanding 2024 performance.
Atlas head coach Mike Pressler was ecstatic to be able to bring Logan back for three more seasons because of his ability to not only play great defense, but also provide vital leadership both on and off the field.
“He’s the greatest defensive middie I’ve ever seen,” Pressler said. “He’s the eraser; he takes out that short-stick matchup. He’s an outstanding team defender and incredible communicator. Like Trevor [Baptiste], he is just a remarkable captain.”
Logan’s ability to rarely get beat creates a mismatch for opposing teams’ offenses that look to initiate from a short stick. In 2024, opponents shot just 16.1% when Logan was the closest defender.
New York returns all three of its SSDMs in Logan, Chet Comizio and Payton Rezanka along with both long-stick midfielders in Tyler Carpenter and Koby Smith.
It was Pressler’s top priority to bring back his entire rope unit from the 2024 season, as they were a large reason for the team’s success. Pressler allows his rope unit to push transition and take advantage of other teams’ offensive players on defense by giving the unit a green light to go to the goal.
“Those DTs (defensive transition) and LSMs who can create the two and push transition to trap other team’s offensive midfielders in the sub game … are invaluable,” Pressler said. “It might be your most valuable unit in the PLL.”
