Outlaws re-sign Logan Wisnauskas through 2027, solidifying Tewaaraton trio

The Denver Outlaws announced attackman Logan Wisnauskas is staying in the Orange and Black for the foreseeable future, signing an extension through the 2027 season. The first overall pick in 2022 missed almost all of last season with a lower body injury.
At no point in the offseason did Denver plan to move from the 2022 Tewaaraton Award winner, and a contract extension was merely a matter of logistics. Especially with the offseason addition of Pat Kavanagh via trade, the Outlaws and head coach Tim Soudan love their core pieces at attack.
“I really envision [Wisnauskas, Kavanagh and Brennan O’Neill] being able to work really tightly together and keep out of each other's way,” Soudan said about his new attack trio after trading for Kavanagh in the fall.
The length of the extension is a statement of intent that Denver plans to build around the last three Tewaaraton winners down low. Kavanagh and O’Neill are on rookie contracts through 2026, and now Wisnauskas is locked into that core group, as well.
Wisnauskas is a two-time All-Star who looked to be on pace for another great season last year with four points (3G, 1A) against the Carolina Chaos in the season opener. At his best, he’s one of the best attackmen in the world. As a rookie, he scored 24 goals and provided 11 assists for one of the best regular-season teams in the league.
In that game against Carolina, Denver opted to start Wisnauskas at attack and O’Neill at midfield. A week later, O’Neill exploded when he moved down low in Wisnauskas’s absence, and now the Outlaws are committed to keeping the 2024 No. 1 pick at attack for the foreseeable future.
The Outlaws will now turn their attention to building out the supporting cast. Sources have indicated that Denver is in talks to bring back Eric Law and 2022 Rookie of the Year Brendan Nichtern, who missed most of the last two seasons for military commitments.
Both Law and Nichtern are true X attackmen, which could complicate their fit, but the Outlaws are open to finding ways to get everyone involved in the offense.
Denver has also expressed interest in adding another true midfielder who can win off the dodge to complement the firepower at attack. Whether that gets addressed via the draft or free agency remains to be seen.
