Outlaws sign All-Pro Zach Geddes from Chaos

The Denver Outlaws retooled their short-stick defensive midfield unit last week, signing Zach Geddes from the Carolina Chaos through the 2026 season. Geddes, a first-round pick in the 2022 College Draft, was a finalist for the George Boiardi Hard Hat Award and a second-team All-Pro last season.

Denver moved quickly to sign Geddes, as the Outlaws negotiated a deal with the former Georgetown Hoya in the open discussion period before the player movement opened in earnest.

In addition to being a reliable defensive short stick, Geddes will provide extra punch to the Outlaws’ transition unit. He’s among the fastest players in the league and is a consistent threat on the break.

He recorded six points in each of the last two seasons and was fifth in scoring among SSDMs in 2024.

“He helps the need of transition from defense to offense,” Outlaws head coach Tim Soudan said. “We’re looking to be better [in transition].”

Geddes was previously in discussions to re-sign with Carolina, according to reporting from Chaos beat reporter Hayden Lewis. After coaching and front office changes, Geddes went to the open market. He talked with multiple teams before ultimately landing with the Outlaws.

In Denver, Geddes joins another All-Pro short stick in Ryan Terefenko. The duo will instantly create one of the rope units in professional lacrosse, if not the very best. Terefenko was a first-team All-Pro a season ago and was also a finalist for the Hard Hat Award.

“He’s going to be a very good one-two punch with Terefenko,” Soudan said.

The Outlaws also re-signed Alex Smith for additional depth at SSDM.

With Denver, Geddes will reunite with two his Hoya teammates in Owen McElroy and Graham Bundy Jr. McElroy was also a 2022 draft selection, and the two have plenty of experience sharing a defense.
