PLL Fantasy: Paul’s top 5 for Salt Lake City
By Paul Lamonaca | Aug 16, 2024
5. Zac Tucci, Faceoff, Boston Cannons
It has been a while since Tucci’s name has been brought up in fantasy, as he’s been quiet since his outstanding game against Philadelphia back in June.
What brings Tucci back into conversation is his opponent this week. The Chaos’s primary specialist, Nick Rowlett, is not rostered for this weekend due to injury. Carolina brought in second-year player James Reilly to fill his role.
Reilley has not played in a game since 2023 and took just 37 faceoffs last season.
While Tucci’s numbers have not been impressive, he has the edge on game experience against Reilly. For just 10 salary coins, Tucci could be the steal of the week.
4. Brian Tevlin, SSDM, California Redwoods
Tevlin has carved out a huge defensive role for the Redwoods of late. Over the past four weeks, he's averaged 27.7 fantasy points per game as a defensive midfielder.
The Redwoods currently sit in a do-or-die position as their playoff chances rely on a high-margin win against the Utah Archers on Friday night.
Tevlin has proven to be a threat all over the field, whether it’s on the defensive end, pushing transition or collecting ground balls in the middle of the field.
3. Mac O’Keefe, Attack, Utah Archers
Over his past two games, O’Keefe has averaged 26.5 fantasy points. With Matt Moore placed on injured reserve for Utah heading into their Homecoming weekend, Grant Ament has been listed at attack for their game against the Redwoods on Friday.
Ament and O’Keefe have always been a lethal combo ever since their college days at Penn State. With the two paired at attack this weekend, expect an influx of goals from O’Keefe in both Archers games.
2. Jeff Teat, Attack, New York Atlas
It feels silly including Teat in this column since almost every week he plays, he finishes top five in fantasy points.
What we have seen from Teat this season is absolute dominance. From Opening Weekend to the end of the regular season, there has been no doubt that Teat is the best lacrosse player on this planet.
New York will face the last-place Philadelphia Waterdogs in its regular-season finale. Philadelphia is having goalie struggles, with Dillon Ward and Matt DeLuca both seeing action in recent weeks. Ward is currently listed as questionable for this weekend’s game, so I expect DeLuca to get the start.
Regardless of who’s in net for Philly, he won’t stop Teat from dominating on the offensive end. I expect another big week out of the lefty.
1. Colin Kirst, Goalie, Boston Cannons
What stands out for me about Kirst is that he’s surpassed 25 fantasy points in each of his last five outings. There is no doubt that Kirst is the primary reason Boston's defense is allowing just 11.7 scores per game, the second-fewest in the league.
Kirst will be going against a Chaos offense this weekend that ranks last in total scores. Carolina also has the third-worst shooting percentage (25.3%).
Another eye-opening stat is that Kirst saves 81% of two-point shots attempted on him, the best mark in the league.
