LOS ANGELES - August 28, 2023 - The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) powered by Ticketmaster alongside Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman’s Boardroom today launched Street Lacrosse, a new, rule-light, minimal-equipment lacrosse property designed to expand access to the sport. The PLL and Boardroom will debut Street Lacrosse at its first Open Run Event on September 8, 2023 in New York at Kevin Durant's Build It and They Will Ball court at East Side Community School.   

Street Lacrosse, which will parallel pick-up lacrosse, is meant to be played by anyone, anywhere, anytime. Players only need sticks and a ball, commonly a tennis ball, along with any agreed upon boundaries and any goal target, whether it be a net, post, bucket, or other marker, and can be played to any agreed score.

“When KD and Ace invested in the PLL, we all knew our biggest impact would come from creating more access to the sport by giving back to the community. Much like the game of basketball, Street Lacrosse will function as an equalizer for anyone who wants to pick up and play – with just a stick and a ball, flexible rules, in any setting,” said Paul Rabil, co-founder and President of the PLL. “For our first Open Run in New York City, we’ll introduce Street Lacrosse with our youth partners and PLL pros at KD’s Lower East Side courts. We couldn’t be more excited about the launch of this movement.”

The inaugural Street Lacrosse Open Run in New York City will feature pro and amateur games between PLL athletes and PLL Assists partners like Bronx Lacrosse, Harlem Lacrosse, City Lax and Brooklyn Lacrosse. DJ Ralphe Som, NYC street food, local art activations, and lacrosse challenges will round out the event. In partnership with STX, the PLL will be donating 150 sticks and 12 nets to the East Side Community School. The PLL will also be giving away 1,000 mini sticks to the public during the event on an open court, where anyone can join a Street Lacrosse pick-up game.
