Start ‘Em: Coulter Mackesy vs. Utah Archers

No. 4 overall pick Coulter Mackesy is expected to make his debut on Saturday.

Princeton’s all-time leading goal scorer is a lethal shooter and a slippery cover. He’s able to bury stepdown shots or create his own shot against short-sticks.

Boston Cannons head coach and general manager Brian Holman is easing him into the lineup. After sitting out opening weekend, Mackesy will join a high-powered offense that exploded for 16 points against a strong New York Atlas defense.

For only six coins, there’s no better value across the league.

Sit ‘Em: Zach Currier vs. Maryland Whipsnakes

The highest-priced midfielder of the week, Philadelphia Waterdogs midfielder Zach Currier has a difficult matchup against one of the best faceoff units in the league.

The Maryland Whipsnakes went 15-for-19 (78.9%) at the stripe against Mike Sisselberger and the Utah Archers.

Joe Nardella (4GB, 1CT), Colin Squires (3GB, 1CT) and Adam Poitras (4GB) have a hive mind as a faceoff unit, knowing what Nardella’s opponent wants to do and how they can best counter.

“I talk with the wing guys quite a bit. I’m pretty lucky, I got Adam Poitras who I think is one of the best short-sticks off the ground in the league,” said Nardella. “We just talk through tendencies. We kinda know where Mike likes to put the ball. When us three are on the same page, I feel like we’re a pretty tough unit to go against.”

At 41 coins, Currier is the most expensive midfielder — a volatile position that has cheaper options worth taking a flier on for this week. Look at Currier’s linemate Jack Hannah (24 coins), who is fully healthy after playing through a hand injury in 2024, or for Denver Outlaws midfielder Jared Bernhardt (12 coins), who is making his PLL debut after a brief stint in the NFL.
