The Steadman Clinic Embarks on Second Season as Official Healthcare Provider and Orthopaedic Partner of the Premier Lacrosse League

LOS ANGELES, CA. (April 29, 2022) – After a successful first season in 2021, The Steadman Clinic‘s physicians and certified athletic trainers are set to begin the second of a two-year agreement to serve as the official healthcare provider and orthopaedic partner of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) powered by Ticketmaster.

As part of the official partnership, The Steadman Clinic provides medical, sports performance and other healthcare services for the PLL. This includes certified athletic trainers for the eight PLL teams and dedicated physician coverage for all competition weekends, beginning June 4-5.

Talena Williams, Vice President of Clinical Operations at The Steadman Clinic, serves as Director of Medical Services for the PLL and oversees The Steadman Clinic’s services to the league. Williams coordinates all gameday medical operations and medical referrals throughout the four-month PLL season.

“We were extremely happy with our first year of association with the Premier Lacrosse League and look forward to growing and nurturing this partnership even more in 2022,” said Williams. “With the league traveling to a different venue each weekend, The Steadman Clinic is in a unique position to supply certified athletic trainers that are assigned to work with each of the eight clubs and have one or more of our world-class sports medicine physicians on-site to oversee all the necessary medical care for all the teams.”

Steadman Philippon Research Institute (SPRI), the clinical research partner of The Steadman Clinic, is also a key contributor in this relationship with the PLL. SPRI lends its injury prevention expertise to the development of PLL lacrosse-specific sports medicine programs that will include screening with SPRI’s state-of-the-art Biomotion advanced imaging technology. PLL athletes also benefit from the evidence-based orthobiologics and regenerative medicine.

“As our partnership grows with the PLL,” added Williams, “we will begin to see the effects that SPRI’s research and innovations will have on the performance and health of the players in the league.”

“As an athlete, performing at the highest level requires optimal attention to your health and recovery, making this partnership a top priority at the PLL,”  said PLL Co-Founder and President, Paul Rabil. “The Steadman Clinic is a world-class injury prevention and treatment center, and we’re thrilled to have them continue to help our athletes reach their full potential.”

The PLL is an eight-team traveling league that competes over 14 weekends in 2022 including in the league’s All-Star Game on July 16 in Boston. The PLL will take its clubs to 13 different cities from opening weekend in June in Albany (N.Y.) to the Championship in September in Philadelphia. For the 10 regular season weekends, all eight teams will compete at the same venue leading into three weeks of postseason play in September. The PLL launched in 2019 with The Steadman Clinic becoming an official partner in 2021.
