The Maybelline Women’s Lacrosse League debuted Tuesday night with a matchup between the New York Charging and Maryland Charm.

The debut of the freshly minted league sparked inspiring moments for young girls watching at home.

Early fandoms were on display…

Kylie Ohlmiller ignited a roar at The St. James by scoring the opening goal in the inaugural game.

Ohlmiller’s goal in her first game back from two major knee surgeries showcased that a new era of women’s lacrosse would be marked by amazing stories.

Ohlmiller’s No. 1 fan, Philadelphia Waterdogs long-stick midfielder Ryland Rees, her fiancé, shared this message:

It was also a reminder always to trust the process.

Postgame, Ohlmiller reflected on her amazing moment, reminding everyone to never give up.

Ohlmiller’s goal was the beginning of an electric night. Aurora Cordingley’s backhand sidewinder showcased how much skill the WLL has.

The speed shined next. Sydni Black electrified with her blazing quickness and elite dodging, garnering attention from one of the greatest ever to do it.

Black’s five points (4G, 1A) led the way for the Charm and gave her an early lead in the race for the Golden Stick Award.

The speed didn’t end with Black. Lauren Gilbert showcased extra gears of her own en route to a three-point night (3G).

The Charging and Charm battled all night in a back-and-forth contest, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.

Even if you’ve never watched lacrosse, one thing is certain: Sixes is entertaining, no matter who plays.

The Charging captured the first win in Maybelline Women’s Lacrosse League history, defeating the Charm 14-13.

From an incredible first goal to spectacular moments from the game's biggest stars, the opening night of the WLL was a major success.
