Dave Cottle, the newly-named general manager of the Philadelphia Waterdogs, comes to the PLL with a bevy of lacrosse coaching and roster management expertise.

“His experience building franchises will be invaluable as we continue to develop our roster and pursue another championship,” Waterdogs head coach Bill Tierney said in a league release on Nov. 7. “His insight into the pro game is unmatched and our players will enjoy all that he brings to the Waterdogs. I couldn’t be more excited to work with him again.”

Cottle’s Division I head coaching career began at Loyola Maryland in 1983. He turned Loyola into a consistent NCAA Tournament team and left the school in 2001 as the program’s all-time winningest coach.

He proceeded to coach the Maryland Terrapins from 2002 through 2010, leading the Terps to a pair of ACC Championships and three championship weekend appearances. While in College Park, Cottle coached a handful of professional lacrosse legends including Lee Zink, Joe Walters, Jake Bernhardt, Jesse Bernhardt and Drew Snider.

Cottle moved to professional lacrosse in 2011 and proceeded to win three MLL championships in his time with that organization. Do you know which club he led to those three MLL titles?
