The Cannons won their first of two Championship Series titles in 2024 by upsetting the Philadelphia Waterdogs in an overtime thriller in the tournament final.

The Cannons faced a rocky road to the final, featuring an overtime loss to California and the defeat at the hands of Philadelphia in pool play. They got their revenge versus the Woods in the semifinals to set up a rematch with Philly in the final.

The championship bout was a back-and-forth affair. The two teams went back and forth throughout before Philly took a 22-20 lead with 3:47 remaining in the fourth.

Goals from Ryan Drenner and Asher Nolting tied things up and sent the game to overtime. Both teams made clutch saves before the Cannons toppled their rivals by scoring the game-winner 1:34 into the period – marking the last Championship Series game with a golden-goal overtime before the rules were changed for 2025.
