Waterdogs place Zed Williams on PUP list

By Michael Bolger | Mar 8, 2025

Philadelphia Waterdogs attacker Zed Williams has been moved to the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List. Williams is expected to miss the majority of the 2025 season.

The 2020 PLL MVP was acquired by the Waterdogs from the Maryland Whipsnakes in exchange for Matt Brandau and a 2025 third-round pick swap.

Williams finished the 2024 season top-10 in the league in points (31), one-point goals (26) and shots (78). The 29-year-old faced the Waterdogs twice last year, totaling six points (4G, 1T, 1A).

The trade paired Williams with All-Pro attackers Kieran McArdle and Michael Sowers, forming an elite trio on the offensive end.

The Waterdogs won’t have to look far for a replacement as longtime starter Ethan Walker returns for his sixth season. With the No. 1 overall pick in the team’s pocket, as well, head coach Bill Tierney could build the depth and competition he’s looking for by drafting CJ Kirst (Cornell) or Chris Kavanagh (Notre Dame).
