PLL Fantasy Strategy: 3 Tips for building a winning lineup

By Evan Mok-Lamme | May 14, 2025

If you’ve played PLL Fantasy, you know that building the right lineup is part science, part chaos. The player pool is deep, the salary cap is tight, and no two weeks are the same.

That’s what makes it fun.

Lineups reset every week, so you’re not stuck with one roster all season long. But this also means you'll have to consider how best to spend your coins before you tap "Save Lineup." Whether you’re a first-time GM or a future hall of famer, here are three key strategies to consider when building your lineup.

1. Pick Complementary Players: Build for balance, not conflict

To earn a winning score, you'll need each player in your lineup to contribute. To maximize points, make sure the success of one your players doesn't come at the expense of another player in your lineup. For example:

DO: Pair teammates who complement each other like Jeff Teat and Xander Dickson. If you think the Atlas will play well, Teat can earn points for assists while Dickson is earning points for scoring goals.

DON'T: Start a defender who’s matched up with your starting attackman, if one is scoring points, it probably means the other isn't.

🧠 Tip: Select players with synergy. Avoid head-to-head conflicts in your own lineup.

2. Prioritize Top-Earning Positions: Spend where it counts

Not all positions are created equal in PLL Fantasy. Just because a player has a great game doesn’t mean they’ll bring home a ton of points. Offensive stars, dominant FOGOs, and hot goalies tend to have higher point ceilings than other positions. If you’re spending big on a playmaker, invest in the positions that consistently rack up points. You don’t need stars at every position — just the right ones.

For example:
Tom Schreiber tallies 2G, 0A (modest offensive stats) and earns 20 points. Meanwhile, Cam Wyers posts 8GB and 1CTO (strong defensive numbers) and earns just 18 points.

🧠 Tip: Spend big on positions that have the highest point ceilings.

3. Gain an Edge with Value Picks

Every Tuesday, player values are adjusted based on their performance in the previous week. This means you can find undervalued players if you know where to look. Look for players coming back from an injury, underpriced rookies, or players who had a quiet week but have a favorable matchup coming up. These picks can open up cap space for your stars and give you an edge if they deliver.

🧠 Tip: Mix in undervalued players with your stars to save cap space and gain an edge.

There’s no perfect lineup and no crystal ball. But with a few smart picks (and a little luck), you’ll be racking up points in no time.

New Winners Every Week

Save your lineup each week for the chance to win jerseys, helmets, and more. All season long, fantasy GMs can join challenges and enter giveaways from the PLL it's partners. Plus, PLL Nation Members can earn exclusive rewards and badges for every win.
