2022 Players Top 50: #27 Logan Wisnauskas

The number one overall draft pick, not many people had a busier year than Chrome rookie attackman Logan Wisnauskas. Let’s take a look at his eventful 2022.

April 10th: Becomes University of Maryland’s all-time leader in points

In a 17-9 win over Rutgers, Wisnauskas recorded his 291st career collegiate point, setting history. He passed Jared Bernhardt as Maryland’s all-time leader in points, and helped extend Maryland’s record to a perfect 10-0. 

April 23rd: Becomes the only Terp in program history to reach 300 points 

Just a few weeks later, Wisnauskas set history again. On April 23rd in a game at John Hopkins he recorded 8 points (5 goals, 3 assists), matching his season-high. More significantly, he reached the 300 point mark, becoming the only Terp in program history to do so. 

May 7th: Maryland wins the Big Ten tournament, finish the regular season 14-0

In a dominant 17-7 victory over Rutgers, the Terps finished off the regular season undefeated. Wisnauskas produced 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists) to help Maryland capture the Big Ten tournament title. 

May 10th: Drafted #1 overall in the 2022 PLL Draft by the Chrome

Just a few days after winning the Big Ten tournament, Wisnauskas was taken at the first overall pick by Chrome head coach Tim Soudan.

May 30th: Maryland wins the NCAA Championship

On May 30th Maryland completed their perfect season. The Terps defeated Cornell in the NCAA Championship game at Rentschler Field with a 9-7 win. In a low-scoring contest, Wisnauskas had 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists). More importantly though, he became a national champion. 

June 2nd: Wins Tewaaraton Award

Only a few days after the title game, Wisnauskas won big again. He capped off his college career winning the prestigious Tewaaraton Award. He joined Matt Rambo (2017) and Jared Bernhardt (2021) as the third Maryland men’s player to win it.

June 5th: Makes his professional debut

Not even a week after playing in the NCAA Championship, Wisnauskas made his professional debut in Albany with the Chrome. 

June 10th: Gets his first professional career goal…and then some 

In the second game of the season, Wisnauskas recorded his first professional career goal versus the Redwoods. The attackman didn’t stop there though. He finished the game with 5 goals, shooting 63%.

August 20th: Produces 7 points versus the Redwoods to help Chrome clinch the #2 playoff seed

Wisnauskas came up big against the Redwoods again in the final regular season matchup of the 2022 season. He recorded 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists) against the Woods, including the game winner. His game-winning goal clinched the second playoff seed for the Chrome in the team’s first postseason appearance.

September 3rd: Plays in his first professional career playoff game 

Just months after playing in the NCAA postseason, Wisnauskas played in his first professional career playoff game in the PLL Quarterfinals. Though the Chrome ultimately fell to the Chaos, Wisnauskas accounted for 2 goals for the Chrome.
