After 10 seasons, Archers short-stick defensive midfielder Dominique Alexander has announced his retirement from professional lacrosse.

Alexander was the first recipient of the George Boiardi SSDM Hard Hat Award in the PLL’s inaugural season in 2019. The Ohio State alum won the 2017 MLL Championship with the Ohio Machine, and was All-Pro in 2019 and an All-Star in 2021.

“The first-ever George Boiardi SSDM Hard Hat winner, Dominique set the standard for defensive midfield play,” said PLL Director of Lacrosse Product Rachael DeCecco. “It’s hard to find someone who had more fun while playing the game, and never missed an opportunity to beak opponents.”

Alexander finishes his career with 49 caused turnovers, 176 ground balls, and 31 points.

Archers head coach Chris Bates said the following about Alexander:

'Nique has been a foundation player for the Archers since our inception. He's an all-time personality on the field and off, but he's backed it up with consistent exceptional production year in and year out. Dom has been a top short stick d-middie in the pros for many years. He has given our defense such confidence with his ability to be not only a shut down cover SSDM, but also a great team defense communicator. He's been a stalwart on man down for us, as well. Dominique is a great teammate, a wonderful human being and a teacher, coach and mentor to many. We wish him all the best!

Alexander released the following statement:

After 10 years playing professional lacrosse, I have decided to retire. I want to first thank my parents, wife and family for supporting me on this journey every step of the way. Through the ups and downs of my career they have always been there for me. I want to thank all my coaches who believed in me and pushed me to be the best version of myself. Lastly, I want to thank every teammate I ever had. I have been blessed to play this game alongside some great people. The memories made will be something I never forget and will cherish for the rest of my life. Some of those bonds in between the lines have turned into lifelong friendships which I am extremely grateful for.
