“Holy cow!” It’s a bull.
Izzy Scane’s first reaction to the New York Charging’s logo was pure excitement. It was a moment that made the creation of the Women’s Lacrosse League and announcement of the four inaugural teams “all so real now,” she said in a Dec. 10 team post.

Scane and the Charging will debut at the 2025 Lexus Championship Series at The St. James in Springfield, Va., from Feb. 11-17. They’ll face Charlotte North’s Boston Guard, Alex Aust Holman’s Maryland Charm and Ally Mastroianni’s California Palms. The round-robin tournament will be played in the Sixes format, the style of lacrosse to be seen in the 2028 Olympics.
Scane, a Michigan native, graduated from Northwestern in 2024 as the all-time leading scorer in Division I lacrosse. In 2023, she led the nation with 99 goals, setting the program’s single-season record en route to the Tewaaraton Award and a national championship. She won another Tewaaraton Award the following year.
“A lot of my favorite lacrosse players are from New York. My teammates are from New York and I think they love the game so, so much there and it’s such a pillar of the sport,” Scane said in a Dec. 10 team post. “So to be involved with a state like that and with a group of people that just love the sport that I love so fiercely is a really exciting thing.”

Come February, Scane wants “to be the most energetic team out there and show New York what we’re all about.”
“I know you guys are crazy and passionate,” she said on “SportsCenter” on Dec. 10, “and I think you can bring that to the women’s lacrosse game as well.”
