Player of the Week: Trevor Baptiste
Two-time Paul Cantabene Faceoff Athlete of the Year Trevor Baptiste (Atlas LC) dominated in Week 2. Baptiste won 83.3% of faceoffs, buried a goal, dished an assist, and tallied a second assist on a tic tac toe fast break goal.
Baptiste completely controlled the stripe against Cannons LC. He won 85.7% of clamps – and turned 16 of 18 clamp wins into faceoff wins. When Baptiste lost the clamp, he countered, turning 2 of 3 clamp losses into faceoff wins.
Baptiste’s ability to turn faceoff wins into offense led to a flurry of three goals in :20 seconds, swinging momentum at the end of the first quarter.

Atlas LC has attempted a league-high 19 fast break shots through two games – with nine of those shots coming off Baptiste’s faceoff wins. And their fast break defense (which allowed a league-worst 2.82 fast break goals per game in ‘21) has been much improved. Opponents have only generated four fast break shots against Atlas.
Head coach Ben Rubeor’s team has outscored opponents 11-to-1 in transition. Baptiste’s dominance at the stripe is a big reason why.
