PREMIER LACROSSE LEAGUE COMES TO ALBANY

ALBANY, NEW YORK (April 22, 2019) - The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced today that the University at Albany’s Tom & Mary Casey Stadium in Albany, NY will host regular season games on August 24th and 25th this summer.

PLL action will commence with a single showdown on Saturday, August 24th and two games on Sunday, August 25th. Albany becomes the 12th location revealed by the PLL following announcements of Boston, New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Jose, Columbus, Denver, and Hamilton. PLL action in Albany will also see former University at Albany student-athletes and current PLL stars Ty Thompson, Kyle McClancy, Connor Fields, Blaze Riorden, Joe Resetarits, Miles Thompson, Brett Queener, and Troy Reh return to their alma mater.

UAlbany is home to one of the top programs in Division I lacrosse. The Great Danes, nine-time America East champions, have been to the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals three times and in 2018 reached NCAA Championship Weekend for the first time. UAlbany also boasts one of the most rabid fan bases in the country and has ranked in the top 10 nationally in home attendance each of the past two seasons.

ABOUT TOM & MARY CASEY STADIUM

The 8,500-seat Tom & Mary Casey Stadium opened in 2013. The stadium currently is home to the UAlbany football, men's and women's lacrosse as well as men's and women's soccer programs. In men's lacrosse, the Great Danes consistently have drawn some of the top crowds in Division I. In 2017, the stadium hosted a men's lacrosse NCAA Tournament game, with UAlbany defeating defending-champion North Carolina, 15-12, in front of an NCAA first-round record 6,472 fans.
