PLL Fantasy: Paul’s top 5 for Baltimore
By Paul Lamonaca | Aug 2, 2024
5. Mike Sisselberger, Faceoff, Utah Archers
While Sisselberger hasn’t replicated his monster rookie-year stats from 2023, he has started to progressively boost his fantasy totals after falling into a slump in which he totaled just 10 fantasy points over the span of three games.
Since then, Sisselberger has averaged 14 fantasy points per game over his last three contests.
Utah will play Carolina on Sunday. The Chaos continue to struggle week in and week out at the faceoff stripe.
Nick Rowlett is 38% on the season, and Carolina has the worst faceoff percentage among teams that have dressed a faceoff specialist every game this season.
4. Ryder Garnsey, Attack, California Redwoods
Garnsey’s fantasy production has increased over the past few weekends. In his last three games, Garnsey has averaged 21.6 fantasy points. Two of those performances came against the Archers and Chaos, teams that both rank in the top three in scoring defense.
The Redwoods are set to play the Denver Outlaws on Saturday. Denver has the worst scoring defense in the league, allowing a league-high 13.8 scores against per game.
With Outlaws’ top cover defenseman, JT Giles-Harris, most likely covering Rob Pannell, I can see Garnsey finding the back of the net multiple times and setting himself up for a great fantasy performance.
3. Colin Kirst, Goalie, Boston Cannons
Although Kirst’s save percentage sits at 55% on the season, he leads the league in total saves and ranks second in total fantasy points among goalies. Impressive, to say the least.
Baltimore Weekend has brought expensive salary cap prices to the goalie position. Brett Dobson is the most expensive player in fantasy this week at 50 salary coins. Kirst, on the other hand, is the fourth-most expensive at 39 salary coins.
Boston plays the Maryland Whipsnakes on Sunday. It will be the second game of Maryland’s Homecoming weekend. While the Whipsnakes offense has been turning heads over the past few weeks, I don’t see them coming out with a win on Sunday.
I’ll be putting Kirst in my lineup this week, and I highly recommend you do the same.
2. Brennan O’Neill, Attack, Denver Outlaws
In O’Neill’s last two outings, he’s put up monster numbers, averaging 47 fantasy points per game. In his game against the Cannons, O’Neill finished with 51 fantasy points against Boston’s defense, which ranks second in scores against.
Yes, O’Neill is undoubtedly one of the most talented players in the league, but it took a while for the rookie to settle in, which meant some performances in which he failed to register a single fantasy point.
This is going to be a turning point for O’Neill. He has settled in and is going to have to lead the charge for the Outlaws if they have any hopes of making a deep playoff run.
Spend the coins. Start O’Neill.
1. Matt Campbell, Midfield, Boston Cannons
At this point in the season, Campbell is the favorite for Gait Brothers Midfielder of the Year Award. He leads all midfielders in total points and two-point goals. More importantly, Campbell leads all midfielders in total fantasy points with 229.
I am a huge fan of how efficient Campbell is. He leads all midfielders in touches yet has a shooting percentage of 29.9%, one of the highest among midfielders.
With Boston playing Maryland on Sunday, Campbell will most likely draw Maryland’s long-stick midfielder, Colin Squires, as his matchup. Squires has caused just one turnover in his last five games.
If you’re willing to spend big on a midfielder, Campbell is the guy to go with.
