Boston Cannons attackman Asher Nolting

PLL Fantasy: Paul’s top 5 for Fairfield

By Paul Lamonaca | Jul 19, 2024

5. Dillon Ward, Goalie, Philadelphia Waterdogs

While Ward and the Waterdogs have the worst record in the PLL, the Waterdogs’ defense ranks third in scores against average and Ward ranks third in save percentage at 55.2%

Ward will be going against a Denver Outlaws offense that ranks second-to-last in total scores and overall team shooting percentage.

Ward sits at 34 salary coins for this weekend and is a great option if you are looking to spend less than what blue-chip goalies are currently priced at.

4. Garrett Epple, Defense, Boston Cannons

Epple has made a case for himself to win back-to-back Dave Pietramala Defensive Player of the Year awards after a monster first half of the season. Epple leads the league in caused turnovers and leads all defenseman in fantasy points, averaging 25 each game.

I am very excited for his matchup against the New York Atlas on Saturday. I believe that Epple along with the rest of the Cannons’ defense have the capability to stop the most high-powered offense in the league.

Regardless of his matchup, Epple should be able to limit his opponent’s touches and scoring throughout the game.

3. TJ Malone, Attack, Maryland Whipsnakes

By now people have realized that Malone falling to the third round of the 2024 College Draft was a steal. The rookie currently leads Maryland in touches, goals and points and has become an established facilitator through his scoring and distributing.

Malone ranks second out of all rookies in fantasy points with 35.2 per game.

With Matt Rambo out of the lineup for Friday’s matchup against the Carolina Chaos, Malone will get even more opportunities to shine and could put up some serious fantasy points for the Whipsnakes.

2. Joe Nardella, Faceoff, Maryland Whipsnakes

Nardella is coming back from an ACL injury that wiped out his 2023 season. The performance he has made to come back is astonishing.

Nardella leads the league in faceoff percentage at 71.4% and ranks second in the league in ground balls despite missing the first game of the season.

Nardella is set to face off against Carolina’s Nick Rowlett on Friday night. Rowlett has gone above 50% just once this season. Nardella should be primed for a big weekend.

1. Asher Nolting, Attack, Boston Cannons

Nolting comes out of the All-Star break averaging 34 fantasy points per game and sitting sixth in the league in total fantasy points.

What is remarkable about Nolting’s efficiency is that he leads the Cannons in total points but has 45 fewer touches than linemate Marcus Holman

Saturday’s matchup, in my opinion, will be a slugfest between two of the best teams in the PLL. If there is going to be an offensive star for the Cannons, it will be Nolting leading the charge
