Premier Lacrosse League, Boardroom to Host Second Street Lacrosse Open Run Event on May 11 in NYC

By PLL | Apr 15, 2024

NEW YORK – April 15, 2024 – The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) powered by Ticketmaster alongside Kevin Durant and Rich Kleiman’s Boardroom today announced the next Street Lacrosse Open Run set for May 11, 2024 at Kevin Durant's Build It and They Will Ball court at East Side Community School. The PLL and Boardroom launched Street Lacrosse – a rule-light, minimal-equipment lacrosse property designed to expand access to the sport – at the inaugural Open Run in New York City last year.

Street Lacrosse parallels pick-up lacrosse, and is meant to be played by anyone, anywhere, anytime. Players only need sticks and a ball, commonly a tennis ball, along with any agreed upon boundaries and any goal target, whether it be a net, post, bucket, or other marker, and can be played to any agreed score.

“Our first Open Run was a celebration of lacrosse, its culture, and the thriving community surrounding the sport in and around New York City. As we look ahead to our next Open Run, we’re excited to build on the success of our inaugural event, empowering more individuals to pick up a lacrosse stick and take part in the universal language of sport on the court,” said Paul Rabil, Co-Founder and President of the PLL. “Through Street Lacrosse, a collaboration between the PLL and Boardroom, and driven by our shared commitment to expanding the game, we’re introducing new avenues for people to play lacrosse.”

"New York is the greatest sports city in the world, and expanding access to sports like lacrosse is crucial to growing the sports community here,” said Boardroom CEO Rich Kleiman. “I'm thrilled to continue Boarroom's collaboration with PLL and bring a one-of-a-kind experience back to one of our favorite courts in the city."

The Street Lacrosse Open Run will feature pro games between PLL and Unleashed men’s and women’s lacrosse players, and youth games between PLL Assists partners like Bronx Lacrosse, Harlem Lacrosse, City Lax and Brooklyn Lacrosse. NYC street food, local art activations, and lacrosse challenges will round out the event. In partnership with STX and UBS, the PLL will be donating 300 sticks and 24 goals to PLL Assists partners and the East Side Community School.
