PREMIER LACROSSE LEAGUE AND THE TEWAARATON FOUNDATION ANNOUNCE HISTORIC PARTNERSHIP

LOS ANGELES (April. 3, 2019) - The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) is pleased to announce that the league has partnered with the Tewaaraton Foundation on a multi-year deal to become the exclusive professional lacrosse partner of the legendary Tewaaraton Award.

The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the preeminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse players. Starting this year, the PLL will serve as the presenter of the five men’s Finalists, which will be announced May 9 in a live-streamed event. These finalists are invited to the Tewaaraton Ceremony on May 30, 2019 in Washington, DC where the recipients will be announced. The PLL will recognize both male and female recipients of the 2019 Tewaaraton Award during a yet-to-be-announced game weekend during the regular season.

As part of the partnership, the PLL and the Tewaaraton Foundation will jointly launch a special campaign honoring the Heritage of Lacrosse. This initiative will educate players, staff and fans about the Native roots of lacrosse while also producing original content on the sport’s creation, working with the Tewaaraton Foundation to raise awareness and appreciation for the sport’s legacy.

“The Tewaaraton Award is the highest honor given out in collegiate lacrosse and we are both humbled and privileged to work alongside the foundation to recognize these exceptional athletes,” said PLL Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer Paul Rabil. “This partnership also emphasizes the importance of the game’s historic origins. Together, we will educate the next generation of players and fans of the game’s Native traditions while bringing attention to some of the pioneers of lacrosse who evolved the sport into what it is today.”

“We are proud to make this long-term commitment to the PLL,” said Jeffrey Harvey, Chairman of The Tewaaraton Foundation. “Paul Rabil is in a class by himself as a leader in the game of lacrosse and he, along with Mike Rabil, have gathered an impressive group of committed partners. They understand the mission and values of the Tewaaraton Foundation which goes beyond the award. The PLL is going to be a platform to celebrate this great game and we could not be more excited for its inaugural season.”
