The Premier Lacrosse League Shows Growth Across Core Channels During 2022 Season
By PLL | Oct 3, 2022
LOS ANGELES, CA. (October 3rd, 2022) - The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) powered by Ticketmaster has tracked significant growth across ticketing, broadcast, social, and digital platforms during the 2022 season.
“Season four saw meaningful growth across core commercial categories,” said Co-Founder and CEO Michael Rabil. “Our data shows growth in overall fan volume and engagement - including expansion of viewership, onsite attendance, purchasing activity, and engagement with PLL products and content. On the heels of two years encumbered by COVID, this was the first ‘apples to apples’ season we’ve had since 2019, presenting a benchmark moment for growth that we’ll build on in years to come”.
The 2022 season was the most-watched season across broadcasts in the PLL’s four-year history. Both the regular season and the Cash App Playoffs hit record highs. Viewership increased across all key demographics: P18-49 (+32%), female viewers (+29%), F18-49 (+26%), and M25-54 (+26%).
“Both on and off the field, the 2022 PLL season was filled with powerful wins,” said Co-Founder and President Paul Rabil. “To have a successful season in venue and across media, our operations, media and business intelligence teams worked tirelessly to identify the right markets within a small window of the summer to capitalize on the momentum from 2021. Their data-driven decisions took us to four weekend sellouts and an amazing 73 net promoter score. The on-site experience continues to elevate year-over-year, and we’re only getting started.”
The league’s first-ever expansion club, Waterdogs LC, won the 2022 Cash App Championship in only their third season. Head coach Andy Copelan’s team defeated the reigning champions, Chaos LC. Upper Dublin (PA) native Michael Sowers was named the Championship MVP playing in front of his home crowd in Philadelphia.
Atlas LC faceoff athlete Trevor Baptiste became the first-ever Black player to win the MVP award. Baptiste is only the second-ever faceoff athlete to earn MVP honors, joining Greg Gurenlian (‘15 MLL MVP).
Four players reached the 400-point career mark throughout the season: Archers LC attack Will Manny (416), Archers LC attack Marcus Holman (411), Waterdogs LC attack Kieran McArdle (401), and Atlas LC attack Eric Law (400). Only 12 players all-time have reached this milestone.
