In a stacked Archers offense, Connor Fields makes his mark at the midfield playing alongside Tom Schreiber.
Fields brings a dimension to his game that not many defenses can answer to with all the talent on the Archers’ O. Fields does so many different things well.
He’s a dodging threat both as a scorer and a feeder. In 2022, Fields shot 33.3% off the dodge accounting for 8 goals, with the league average sitting at 25.0%. He’s creative in his approach and almost always manages to get a shot off, even with defenders draped on him.
With such a loaded offense, we’ve seen defenses make the difficult choice of putting a short stick on Fields, a decision most come to regret almost instantly. If he can find even a sliver of space there’s a good chance of him putting the finish on a play, whether it’s one last pass or taking it right to the goal. Fields shot 41.2% in assisted shooting this past season with 7 goals.
His best performance came in the regular season finale in Seattle versus the Waterdogs. Fields commanded the field, recording 5 goals on 10 shots against the eventual champions. His versatility was on full display.
