4-time All-Pro goalie Drew Adams announces retirement
By PLL | Mar 1, 2022
This past PLL season, my 13th in professional lacrosse, will be my last. I will be forever thankful for my teammates, coaches and all of those involved who have had such a tremendous impact on me. My main focus has always been my family. My hope is stepping away from playing provides more opportunity to create memories as a husband, father and friend," said Archers LC goalie Drew Adams.
A four-time All-Pro goalie ('10, '11, '12, '15), Adams retires as the all-time leader in career saves (1,966).
Adams led the New York Lizards to the 2015 MLL Championship during one of his best seasons, saving 57% of opposing shots.
"All the coaches met in NYC [in 2019] before we had our team names or anything. I was asked, 'If you could pick one, who would your goalie be?'" recalls Archers LC head coach Chris Bates. "Even at that moment, I said, 'I would love to coach Drew Adams.'"
"Drew goes down as an all-time great. He has this mellow, even-keeled personality which settles a defense -- and he has an explosive twitch to the ball to make these crazy saves."
