Premier Lacrosse League Announces Attendance From Week 10 In Albany

LOS ANGELES, CA. (August 28, 2019) -  The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced today an attendance total of 12,522 for the final regular season weekend's slate of games at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium at UAlbany (Aug. 24-25), including a sell out crowd for Saturday night’s game between Atlas LC and Chaos LC.

With the PLL’s innovative playoff format, three teams entered into Albany fighting for only two playoff spots. Archers LC, Redwoods LC and Atlas LC were all looking to secure their spots in the playoff bracket, and this competition lived up to the league’s lofty standards. After a massive Atlas LC win on Saturday night, the team could only wait to see what Sunday would hold. However, based on Sunday’s outcomes, Atlas LC lost the three-way tiebreak due to the lowest score differential of the three teams. Covering the spread, the Redwoods needed to win by 7 goals going into their game, and left no doubt, towering over Chrome LC by an 11-goal margin. Aside from the score differential outcomes, the two Sunday games proved to be the major talking points of the weekend as Archers LC also won their respective matchup against the #2 seeded Whipsnakes LC, clinching their playoff berth. In a true testament to the parity of the PLL in its inaugural season, it took the last game of the thirty game regular season to determine which teams would officially fight to be crowned the first ever PLL Champion.

Weekend highlights also included PLL’s Native American Day (on Sunday) in partnership with the Tewaaraton Foundation which paid tribute to heritage of lacrosse and honored native communities. On the digital side, PLL once again stole headlines through its innovative production with NBC; most notably, Trevor Baptiste’s goal while mic’d up on-the-field generated over 600,000 views and over 12 million total impressions.

The six PLL Lacrosse Clubs will head into Labor Day Weekend with a league-wide bye, and will return with a highly-anticipated slate of postseason games at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, OH on the first weekend of September. The weekend will begin with a 7pm ET game on Friday, September 6 under the lights between Redwoods LC and Archers LC on NBCSN. The winner of that game will advance to the semifinals on September 14. The weekend will continue with two games on Saturday, September 7. The first will pit Atlas LC against Chrome LC on NBC Sports Gold at 3PM ET, as both teams look to fight for the first overall draft pick. The final game of the weekend will be a 6PM ET faceoff on NBCSN between the top two seeds of the regular season: Chaos LC and Whipsnakes LC. The winner of the matchup will have an automatic spot in the inaugural Premier Lacrosse League Championship game in Philadelphia on Sep. 21. Remaining teams on the other half of the PLL postseason bracket will go against one another for a shot at obtaining the top pick in next year’s draft.
