The league's first expansion team is out for revenge.

Returning Players: 0

Additions: 22

Wes Berg, Charlie Cipriano, Christian Cuccinello, Zach Currier, Matt DeLuca, Steven DeNapoli, Ryan Drenner, Dan Eipp, Patrick Foley, BJ Grill, Connor Kelly, Kieran McArdle, Kyle McClancy, Ben McIntosh, Brodie Merrill, Ryland Rees, Ben Reeves, Noah Richard, Chris Sabia, Drew Simoneau, Drew Snider, Jake Withers

Positional Battle: Goalie

Rookie Matt DeLuca (Delaware) and veteran Charlie Cipriano will battle for the starting spot. DeLuca is massive – 6-foot-6 with a wide base. Cipriano sat behind Goalie of the Year Blaze Riorden on Chaos LC last summer. He’s familiar with the underdog role, but he has started for playoff teams in the pros – and for head coach Andy Copelan, while at Fairfield – before.

Best Unit: Two-way midfielders

Archers, Atlas, Chaos, and Chrome are bringing three short-stick defensive midfielders. Redwoods and Whipsnakes are bringing two plus whatever label you want to slap on Brent Adams, Sergio Perkovic, Jake Bernhardt, and Max Tuttle. The Waterdogs are bringing one: Steven DeNapoli.

Coach Copelan was able to observe the PLL’s rules prior to picking his team. He saw the impact of a 52-second shot clock and a 100-yard field. Midfielders who can push from defense to offense (and get back in the hole from offense to defense) were incredibly valuable. So the Waterdogs have ditched traditional SSDMs to dress more two-way midfielders than any team in the league.

Zach Currier might be the best in the world; he played lockdown SSDM for Team Canada. Kyle McClancy tallied 78 goals and 46 assists during his career at UAlbany; as a short-stick defender for Chaos last year, he was a key part of the league’s most lethal fast break offense. Dan Eipp doesn’t have much experience on the defensive end – but it's a safe bet that the league’s fastest player (who also has a notoriously team-first attitude) will buy in and D up. Drew Snider earned his first roster spot in pro lacrosse as a defensive midfielder before becoming an All-Pro offensive midfielder.
