Players Top 50: #38 Jay Carlson
Jay Carlson’s game is equal parts gritty and flashy. The Whipsnakes offense hauled in a league-high 79 rebounds. Jay played a big role in that, gobbling up 25 groundballs (most among attackmen).
He sells out for assisted groundballs and on the ride. Recall Matt Rambo’s game-winner over Atlas LC at Homewood. Remember how it started? With a rideback by Jay Carlson.
Jay’s gravity inside often distracts defenses from other shooting threats. He’s always cutting and screening on the crease. When left open, he finishes with flare -- burying multiple between-the-legs goals in the playoffs.
